Effect of grinding particle size on flotation

In the flotation machine flotation process, both excessively coarse ore particles (greater than 0.1mm) and extremely fine ore particles (less than 0.006mm) do not float well and the recovery rate is low.

In the flotation of coarse particles, due to the large weight, the ore particle shedding force increased.It requires :(1) the use of sufficient quantities of the most effective collecting agent;(2) increase the air inflation of pulp to cause large bubbles and increase the amount of microbubbles precipitated out of water;(3) the stirring strength of pulp shall be appropriate;(4) pulp concentration should be appropriately increased;(5) the scraper should be rapid and stable when blowing bubbles.

In the flotation of very fine particles (usually less than 5 ~ 10 m of slime), (1) because the slurry quality is very small, it is easy to adhere to the coarse surface, making the coarse floatability reduced, making the selectivity bad;(2) because the slurry is larger than the surface, it will absorb a large number of flotation agents in the pulp, which will reduce the concentration of agents in the pulp, destroy the normal flotation process, and reduce the flotation index;(3) because the slurry is very fine and has a large surface area, so that the surface activity increases, easy to interact with a variety of agents, not easy to separate, has a strong hydration, so that the foam is too stable, the concentration will cause difficulties, reduce the quality of concentrate, and make the foam product liquidity and concentration efficiency reduced.
