Cone crusher is a common crushing equipment, the main object of its work for ore materials, its particle shape (material particle geometry) is the main index of crushing product quality evaluation, usually can be divided into cubic and needle flake particle.

The mass fraction of needle flake particles in the crushed products is needle flake rate.In the construction field, the increase of the needle flake particles in the concrete aggregate will lead to the decrease of the overall compressive strength of the building and increase the cement consumption in the construction process.Similarly, in asphalt mixtures, the increase of needle flake particles will also lead to the decrease of the overall density and compressive and tensile strength of the mixture.Thus it can be seen that reducing the rate of needles is crucial to the quality of broken products.

Related research found that the material before entering the crusher, after screening or particle size separation process, the particle size becomes more uniform;After entering the crushing chamber, the material is crushed by extrusion, and the needle flake particles begin to appear. As more and more material particles are crushed by extrusion, the needle flake particles increase rapidly.When the crushing events increase further, some material particles, including needle flake particles, begin to be squeezed twice or more times.In the second half of the crushing process, the rate of the materials in the crushing chamber decreases and returns to the ideal range.It can be seen that in the working process of cone crusher, the frequency of crushing events increases, which is beneficial to reduce the needle flake particles in the crushed products.Therefore, the improvement of spindle speed can improve the particle quality of broken products to a certain extent.

It can be seen that measures such as increasing spindle speed, improving crusher structure parameters and increasing the probability of crushing events in the crushing chamber (the number of repeated crushing of materials) are effective ways to improve the particle shape of the crushed products.
